Arenacross:

To race Arenacross is to bump against the Adrenaline limit.  Tight, twisting, demanding jumps with Super Cross style jumps that are challenging for the Pro Riders but are also safe enough for the Mini Bike Pee Wee rider is the goal of the CFP CREW.

Checkered Flag Productions, or as we are known the CFP CREW has been involved in the Indoor Motocross business for almost 20 years.  Starting last year, we looked at Arenacross with a whole new attitude.  We are geared for the rider, the local rider who is not chasing after National points.  These riders instead are racers on the local level and sometimes we will have our events even just for the Amateur riders.

AMA Sanctioned races and outlaw races make up our schedule.  When AMA sanctioned we run their rules and regulations.  When we do our outlaw races we will call them BAD BOYS of RACING (BBOR).  Even we like to go against the establishment once in a while. Besides, being a Bad Boy (or Girl) can be fun!

Top amateur and professional riders from across the country have chosen to compete in our series. Riders like Freestyle MX riders Kenny Bartram and “Mad” Mike Jones, as well as AMA star Isaiah Johnson, and AMA Arencross Champion Josh Demuth have raced at CFP events.

Most events we race both Youth and Amateur classes.  The spectators cheer you on just like if you were Jeremy McGrath! Racing in front of a huge crowd indoors out of the weather is big fun.

Trophies will be awarded to the top 5 places in all amateur classes.  All Pee Wee beginner riders receive awards.

The Arenacross format is a much like Supercross with a process of elimination that will consist of heat races and last chance qualifiers to determine who will compete in the main events.  Most tracks indoors are limited to no more than 14 riders in the Main Event per class.

AMA memberships are not needed when we run Non-Sanctioned races.

An AMA membership is required to compete in and AMA Sanctioned event.  Memberships are for one calendar year and have many benefits.  Go to www.ama-cycle.org for more information.  AMA memberships are available at event registration, $39 year membership or call 1 (800) AMA-JOIN and you can join with a MasterCard or Visa.

'A' ranked riders or Pro Expert riders are eligible to compete in the 125cc Pro and 250cc Pro class(s).  Pro/Expert riders cannot compete in any Youth or Amateur class (you are either a Pro or an Amateur rider).  Amateur riders may ask to move up. No one under 16 years old may race in the Pro class at either AMA sanctioned or non sanctioned races.

In the Amateur division riders should be a minimum of 12 years of age in the125cc class, and we recommend at least 14 years of age for 250cc class.

Rules for Engine sizes: In the 55cc Pee wee class 4 stroke bikes up to 70cc's are allowed.  In the 85cc class up to 125cc 4-stroke bikes are allowed.  No engine displacement larger than 250cc 2-stroke or 450cc 4-stroke allowed to compete in any Arenacross event.  250cc 4-stroke allowed only to compete in 125cc class, 450cc 4-stroke allowed only to compete in 250cc class.

A rider's age as of November 1 will determine his/her class, but a rider may move up to the next higher class if he/she will be eligible to do so at any time during the year.  Example: a rider races amateur on Friday night and has a birthday on Saturday that rider may run Pro if they wish.  If you have a question about age classes please refer to the AMA rulebook.

At registration the rider and pit person must bring a legal drivers license or valid photo ID.  If the rider or person either wanting to race or get a pit pass is under 18 years old, then a parent or legal guardian must sign release forms and remain present with the minor(s) all day.  The parent, legal guardian or authorized adult must present a drivers license or valid photo ID as well.  A pit pass (usually an armband that is issued daily) allows you access to the pits as well as the grandstands.  (A special seating area will be blocked off in the grandstand for riders and pit people - some seats are also available for family but they must buy a ticket at the box office and ask for competitor seating).

Pit Area room is tight.  Some are larger than others but each rider is limited to one pit person for each bike.  Sometimes we can allow you to camp outside with your motor homes and trailers in the parking lot.  There is usually room for a small tool box, but that is about all – besides your bikes or 4 wheeler.  The basic pit area rules are simple: No fuel Jugs indoors, No smoking, No foul language, No starting bikes in the pit area, no riding your bikes in the pit area, just be kind to your other competitors and to be safe.

Excessive smoke from your racer might get you disqualified. Please take the time to tune your bike and get it running good before you bring it to the Arena.  Smokeless oil is also recommended.  Most 2-cycle oil companies make it.  Use of a smokeless oil will help greatly.

Number plates must have contrasting numbers (Example: No blue numbers on black backgrounds).  Number plates with professional numbers are recommended and also your rider’s jersey or chest protector should have the same number on it that is on the racer.

The track is going to be tighter than most any outdoor motocross track you have raced on. Most Arenacross tracks are only 15 feet wide except at the start or the first corner.  Our track builders have been doing this for many years and our goal is to give you a track that is safe for the Pee wees but also challenging with places to pass for even the Pro riders.  We attempt to incorporate at least one set of whoops, a table top, doubles, berms in the corners, a rhythm section, and a small straight a way.  Remember these tracks are usually in the confines of a hockey rink or when we are lucky an indoor rodeo grounds.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope to see you at a race!
